Stop Smoking Pills
Stop Smoking Pills
It would have seemed impossible a few years ago that a pill would be created to help you quit smoking. However stop smoking pills really are becoming a reality as a second pill has hit the market.  The first stop smoking pill was bupropion, better known as Zyban. Now varenicline, a.k.a. Chantix, has been added to the many aids people can opt to try when they want to try to quit smoking. They may be called anti-smoking drugs, quit smoking prescription medication, or stop smoking pills, but however they are termed, they do seem to be able to help people quit without receiving any nicotine at all to the system.

How do Stop Smoking Pills Work?
The way stop smoking pills work is by fooling the brain. The brain releases the endorphin dopamine when it receives nicotine.  This is a feel-good hormone. Bupropion and varenicline also release endorphins which may curtail the need to smoke.  While these stop smoking pills will deal with the nicotine addiction from a physical/neural point of view, there are still the emotional reasons why people smoke to consider. The habit of smoking can be as strong as the physical addiction to nicotine.  For this reason it is good to use other methods simultaneously with stop smoking pills. Behavior therapy, counseling, and relaxation exercises are just a few of the treatments which are conducive to taking pills to stop smoking.

Where to Get and How to Take Stop Smoking Pills?
Stop smoking pills can be purchased in pharmacies with a prescription. You would see your doctor first to assess whether or not you are a good candidate. You will need to take two a day for a certain period of time. During that time you should not crave nicotine. You will also do a follow up regimen which will help alleviate withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, dizziness, irritability and anger.

Are Stop Smoking Pills Guaranteed to Work for Everyone?
Stop smoking pills do not work for everyone.  Some people have tried taking them alone and some people have taken them in conjunction with other stop smoking methods such as behavior therapy, hypno-therapy, acupuncture, support groups and counseling. Why taking pills to stop smoking works for some people and not with everyone is not exactly clear. But it can be assumed that it has to do with personality traits such as determination and will. Some people give up more easily than others. Some people find it easy to quit smoking while taking stop smoking pills yet others find it just as difficult as when they took nothing.

A Worthy Alternative:
Stop smoking pills may turn out to be a wonderful invention. They have already helped millions of people quit smoking. However they are still rather new to the market. Whether or not they will turn out to be effective in the long run at helping people stay away from tobacco forever remains to be seen.  At the moment they are giving people the right amount of support to stop smoking. They do succeed in curbing nicotine cravings and reducing withdrawal symptoms. They are wonderful in that the person taking these stop smoking pills is not ingesting any nicotine at all as they would if they were taking nicotine replacement therapy such as the nicotine patch, gum or nasal spray.
